Types of animals in different environments

The animal world includes thousands of different types of animals, which differ in their characteristics, shapes and way of feeding.

In this article, dear reader, we will explain a lot about this amazing world and the different environments in which animals live.

classification of living things

All living things on Earth are classified into five major kingdoms, each of which is divided into different divisions, orders, families, genera, and species.

 These five kingdoms are:

The animal kingdom includes all animals of different species and species.

Plants include all kinds of green plants.

Fungi include yeast, mushrooms and molds.

protists (protozoans); Among them are amoeba, chlorella and Plasmodium (Plasmodium).

Prokaryotes, including bacteria, algae, protozoa, and many unicellular organisms.

animal kingdom

There are three main groups in the animal kingdom, which are:

Carnivores (predators).

herbaceous animals.

The multi-food group.

Our talk now will be about the different types of animals according to the type of food they eat, as well as the environment in which they live.

Predators

Species of animals that feed on meat include other animals and coexist by hunting and preying on other animals.

It includes about 270 species divided into 12 families, 9 of which live on land and 3 in water.

The most famous of them are lions, tigers, wolves, foxes, leopards, hyenas, dogs, wild cats and raccoons.

It plays an important role in the ecological balance, as it helps balance the numbers of herbivores compared to the green spaces and grasses that feed on them.

Some species are endangered, such as the mink fox, due to poaching for their fur.

Most of them are characterized by high intelligence and can be trained to hunt, such as dogs and leopards, and some can be domesticated, such as dogs and cats.

herbal animals

It includes the various types of animals that feed on plants, and most of them are classified as ruminants.

Plants contain cellulose, which is difficult to digest, so the stomachs of ruminants are divided into four parts for ruminating.

Rumination is necessary for the digestion of plants. Food is stored for a certain time in the anterior part of the stomach (the rumen), and then the animal retrieves it for chewing again.

The animal swallows food to pass on the rest of the stomach to complete the process of digestion and absorption of vitamins, and the most famous ruminants are cows, buffaloes, sheep and rabbits.

Not all herbivores are ruminants, some have simple stomachs, such as horses.

desert animals

The desert environment represents a large part of the globe, such as the Sahara in Africa, the Sahara of the Arabian Peninsula, and the Australian desert.

Many types of animals live in the desert and face harsh environmental conditions such as:

Extreme heat.

Freezing cold.

Severe water shortage.

Not having enough food.

Attacking predators.

The terrain and the nature of the rough terrain.

Therefore, their bodies have characteristics that differ from other animals, to adapt to the harsh conditions of the environment in which they live and be able to survive.

We will mention the most prominent types of desert animals and how they adapt to difficult environmental conditions:

Camel

Many call it the Ship of the Desert, due to its unique physique and ability to adapt to life in the desert.

The camel is characterized by the presence of a hump (humps) on its back, which is made of fat.

These fats can be burned for energy when they cannot get food.

The camel can withstand thirst for a long time, and its body is covered with a thick layer of hair (lint) to protect it from the intense heat.

His feet also end with wide sandals to enable him to walk on the hot sand and prevent planting in them, as well as the long eyelashes and the third eyelid in his eye to protect them from the sand-laden winds.

Jerboa

A species of desert rodent, lives in the deserts of North Africa, China and Mongolia.
It is distinguished by the length of its hind legs to enable it to jump and escape from its enemies, in addition to its ability to dig underground burrows to hide in it and take cover from bad weather conditions.
It can live for a long time without drinking water, and it gets it from the plants and insects that it feeds on.

Fennec Fox

Lives in the deserts of North Africa.
It is distinguished by the length of its ears, which is a quarter of the length of its body, which helps it to cool its body and get rid of its excess body heat.
Its body is covered with a thick layer of fur to protect it from extreme cold, and fur covers its paws to protect it from the hot sand.

Deer and Oryx

They feed on weeds and can travel long distances in search of food and water, and they can withstand thirst for days.
Hair covers their bodies to protect them from harsh weather conditions, whether cold or extreme heat.
Oryx has white hair that reflects sunlight during the day and reduces heat.
She also has a running speed to escape her enemies.
There are many types of animals, reptiles and insects that characterize the desert environment, such as:

Mountain goats.

Some types of wolves, such as the Arabian wolf.
Mountain rabbits like the jack rabbit.
Some types of cats, such as the sand cat and the ring-tailed cat.
Hedgehogs and scorpions.
Many reptiles such as horned viper, Alorl and mountain lizards.

arctic animals

These animals live in the Arctic region, which includes Alaska, Canada, northern Russia and Scandinavia.
The North Pole is characterized by a cold climate in the winter with heavy snowfall, as well as a cool, rainy summer.
Which distinguishes the animals of the Arctic with special physical characteristics to suit harsh weather conditions.
We will mention some types of animals that spread in the Arctic, such as:

polar bear

It is the largest and fiercest predator on land and is not afraid of humans or other animals, so it is the most dangerous animal at all.
Also known as the white bear, its body is covered in thick white fur with a thick layer of fat under the skin to protect it from extreme cold.
It is distinguished by its small head, rounded ears and short tail, and it reaches a length of 2.5 meters.
The feet are covered with a layer of hair to facilitate walking and movement on the ice, and end with claws to burrow into the ice and catch their prey.
It feeds on seals, some marine creatures, fish and dead whales, as it is a skilled swimmer.

Arctic fox

Also called the white fox, it lives on the mountains near the sea, its body is covered with thick white or gray fur.
It feeds on hunting birds and some rodents or the remains of the carcasses of animals that the polar bear hunts.

Musk Ox

A species of ruminant, distinguished by its large, horned head, short neck, and short, strong legs.
Its body is covered with thick hair that reaches the ground, and its name derives from its musky smell and resemblance to a bull. It is one of the ancient surviving animal species from the last Ice Age.
It walks in flocks of 20-30 individuals, and protects young adults from attack by dogs and wolves.

Walrus

A large marine mammal, it lives in the frozen Arctic Ocean and the coast of Alaska.
The body is covered with thick, gray skin covered with short, light reddish hair, with folds in the skin at the shoulders.
It has a mustache of long, hard bristles, with two tusks sticking out of the mouth about a meter long for self-defense.
It swims, feeds on fish and mollusks, lives in flocks of 100-200 individuals, and mating occurs underwater.
There are many species of other polar animals and birds such as the polar hare, seals of all kinds, whales and penguins.
In conclusion, I hope that I have provided a clear picture of the animal world and the different types of animals.

This world is strange and attractive at the same time.
